Frostgrave Wizard Battle (2 of 2)

Following on from last week’s batch of paired Frostgrave characters, five more contributors put these pairings together.  As per last time, the guidelines were:
PAINT A MAGIC USER AND THEIR APPRENTICE, APPROPRIATE FOR USE IN FROSTGRAVE.
(NB, if these two match the theme of your Mordheim Challenge, then you now have a playable Frostgrave force).
Once again, the goal was to have as many of us involved in an aligned project as possible, rather than get worked up about very strict criteria, and people came up with some fun characters.

Frostgrave Wizard Battle (1 of 2)

The Mordheim 5-a-Side project was a success, with several of us getting the core of a skirmish force finished and ready to hit the table.  With Frostgrave 2nd edition due to be released (and on sale by the time of writing), I thought that adding a pair of magic users to the five figs from the 5-a-Side project would be a fun and achievable goal, hopefully made all the more so by doing it in concert with a few others.  The guidelines were:

PAINT A MAGIC USER AND THEIR APPRENTICE, APPROPRIATE FOR USE IN FROSTGRAVE.

(NB, if these two match the theme of your Mordheim Challenge, then you now have a playable Frostgrave force).

The criteria were intended to be broad enough to allow people to paint figures to match a previous project, or head off on a tangent.  I liked the idea of the projects stacking on top of each other, breaking down the substantial task of painting a table worthy force into smaller chunks, but it was up to everyone involved to individually decide whether they wanted to take that approach.  The goal was to get as many of us involved and collaborating as possible, rather than get worked up about very strict guidelines.

Below is what five of us came up with, more to follow.

Daemon Derby

Greater Daemons.  Warhammer just wouldn’t be the same without them.  The ultimate bad guys, they personify literally any facet of bad human behaviour, and we can all identify with at least one (Nurgle with Slaanesh rising in my case!).

Somewhere in the pile of shame we all have a greater daemon or other big chonk that we’ve thought about painting but have never gotten round to caressing with our paintbrushes (that’ll be the Slaanesh rising!).

What better subject matter for a ScaleCreep challenge!

Sit down, pour yourself a glass of something strong, and open your heart to the ever loving embrace of chaos.

BOYL20 report - Best BOYL so far ?

So last week end was BOYL20 (sort of), like every year, it was the occasion to see the band and have some quality gaming, I keep saying that every year but BOYL gets a little better every year.
Like you can see above, Whiskey Priest was seemingly here first and in a jolly mood...

Mordheim Five-a-Side Challenge

One of the less consequential knock-on effects of a pandemic, is that I have been playing “Mordheim: City of the Damned” on PS4 with a few friends.  The fun that we had with that led me to dig up some unloved Mordheim figures, add a few more and get stuck in to a long overdue project.

Rather than keep this enthusiasm to myself, I twisted some notoriously rubber arms and decided to make a voluntary group project out of it, criteria as follows:

COMPLETE A MINIMUM OF FIVE FIGURES, APPROPRIATE FOR USE IN MORDHEIM GAMES AS PART OF THE SAME WARBAND.

Quarantina Quompetiton #3 - Warzone Comfort Zone

This week at Scale Creep HQ, it's very firmly the mid 1990s, and we're revelling in the gonzo classic of early editions of Warzone - the game that captured our hearts with nuggety sculpts of balloon-muscled idiots toting chunky guns and chunkier-yet shoulder pads.  The challenge: to paint some vintage Warzone minis with a two-week deadline to evoke the Spirit of the 1990s.  Let's see how our contestants got on.
