Here be dragons.....

Well to be more precise, one dragon. But he shall not be the last!

Here begins a game of Dragon Metal Tag (The brain child of the SCALECREEP WiPsters, but one that I am proud to be the first entry).

The rules are simple, I've painted a dragon. At the end of the post, I will 'tag' another WIPster, who is then 'it' and honour bound to paint and post a Dragon before 'tagging' another WIPster to do the same.

Simple? Yes. Probably. Dragons are fickle beasts, as are WiPsters (but they make up for it by being devilishly handsome).

Now onto the dragon......

Tom Meier's Zombie dragon. Rereleased by RALPARTHA

You know that miniature that you've always wanted, but didn't buy? Tom Meier's Zombie dragon is one such miniature for me. It is a seminal dragon of its time and will go perfectly with the Nurgle army that I keep telling myself I will paint this year
As fortune would have my wife bought me one of these beauties for my birthday (with a little help from my Amazon Wishlist).  And unlike most of the miniatures I buy, this majestic beast was assembled, filled, based and undercoated within a fortnight of his arrival.

Although this old sculpt is a little fiddly in places, it is a pleasure to paint. I painted him in about 4 evenings, each consisting of about an hour or two of painting. (I only got slightly distracted by models turning up for my Frostgrave [or should I say FrostKnave] warband, but that is for a later post.)

Once painted and based, my wonderful rotting beast was sprayed with purity seal to give some protection. And only a day later saw gaming action, which can be read about at Whiskey Priest's 'The Leadpile' blog.

It wouldn't be right to leave it there without taking a half-decent pic of this one since it's the first in a series of dragons to appear on this blog, so it is a higher resolution pic taken today:

My first ever dragon now ready to join the legions of Papa Nurgle.

Now to fulfill my duty as the first to be the chaser around the playground. I hereby tag the infamous Captain Crooks to be the next to post under the 'Dragon Metal Tag' label.  So come on Crooks! Snap to it!

  1. Challenge accepted Mr Pixie... and in honour of the great Tom Meier, who sculpted that zombie dragon, I believe I shall also choose one from his venerable collection :D

    1. He got bored of the lack of challenge and flew away, that's all!

And really, no dragon! You need to be tagged in this game!

  5. I can't believe how many people have never painted a dragon. What else have they never done? Have they also never seen Star Wars, perhaps?

    1. I've never seen Ben Hur as a matter of fact.
I have painted a 10mm nazgul though, which is kinda like a dragon...

    2. I've put off painting one for years. Now I have done one, I aim to do another in the summer. It's very rewarding.

And Paul, never seen Ben Hur! What did you do on bank holidays as a child after watching Clash of the Titans and/or Sinbad?

I am tempted to do a post of lovely scenery and scared adventurers with smoke damage and flames but no dragon......
