Haemo-Erotic Tag 4: Arnuld Clotchewer

Following on from Hyu-Jigo the Pin Rat, I present my own gorechosen, Arnuld Clotchewer, who likes travelling, meeting new people and long walks in the rain. The blood rain. With the head of the person he just met clasped in a red fist.

I enjoyed working on his big shoulder plates, it gave me a chance to work out how I'd approach some of his more armoured mates, should I decide to paint Arnuld some mates.

Arnuld is one of my favourite chaos thugs minis, not least because of the creepy hood. I wanted to make sure it stayed creepy, so it's painted like pale flesh covered in the spray of some recent victim. He looks a bit like a body builder mixed with a serial killer. Hacking people up must make for great cardio. "Feel the BURN!" should be one of big red's war cries methinks, for he seems to likes them ripped. I can just imagine Arnuld screaming "Got tooo da choppa realmgate! !" in many, many of his games.

Next up, Antipixi! I choose you!

  1. Man, this one looks like the fantasy version of american psycho...
One can tell how long you've been caressing those sweet pecs and abs with your brush.

    1. There are more layers of paint on those pecs than any excuse could justify. The brush just kept circling.

  2. Beautifully executed, buddy!

Your flesh tones have a bold, yet smooth look. And the hood is creepiness incarnate (as you wanted).

Challenge accepted. Mine will have a somewhat similar athletic build to yours too.

    1. Thank you kindly, I was unsure about the hood until the blood hit it to be honest.

  3. I think that is my favourite of yet he old thug sculpts.

You did a great job on him Mr S.

A nice blend of WWE, Jason Voorhees and Warhammer.

  5. Quite good, I like the fantasy gladiator look, and the shoulder armor turned out particularly well. (and it makes me think that the numerous Foundry gladiators could be easily reworked with Chaos weapons)

    1. Thanks Mr Packer. Gladiator was the idea, he'll be my character for the upcoming Gorechosen game GW are bringing out next month. Foundry chaos gladiators, that sounds like an idea that needs to happen.

  6. I really like the hood. And the blood. And his ruddy pink skin. But mainly the hood. You get so much from a model's face, and this guy has chosen to cover it. Which means he's overly obsessed with his ripped torso. What a lose!

    1. Cheers ma dear. His face must be manky, in contrast to his sculpted bod. Hell, it's chaos, maybe that is his face. Inverted nostril skin or something.

  7. Without your paint job his pecs give me tingly feelings. With it I am almost explosive. Can you tell me how did his shoulder armour plates Mr Saturday?

    1. Why thank you, I aim to excite. Okay, shoulder plate:

Mechtited Red base, wash with Reikland Fleshshade. Highlight up to 2:1 White:Mechrite Red. Give it 2 glazes with Bloodletter glaze. Recess wash with Agrax Earthshade. Paint in chips with 1:1 Black:Mechrite Red, then leaving the black/red mix on the edges, paint Mithril Silver (or equivalent, that's an oooold paint) into the chips. Done!

    2. Thank you sir. Consider the idea stolen :)

    3. No problem at all Ashley. The key is the glazes, it allows you to dial the vibrancy up or down to your taste. It's served me well on everything from ad-mech to Sov judges.

  8. Awesome work on this one Mr Saturday! The armored shoulder pad and blood splatter are my favorite elements on him. Overall a lovely piece. I might have to track this one down and give him a go now. ;)

    1. Thanks Airborne, he's well worth having, a classic thug sculpt.

  9. Great work, the blood stains are awesome. He's a seriously disturbed looking fellow. ;-) The kinda stuff GW would never do nowadays

    1. He's creepy for sure. The chaos stuff these days is more overt, but there are some really nice minis, the Silver Tower chaos stuff is excellent, and I quite like the massive slaughterpriest, the bald head strikes me as more sinister than many of the massive helmets.

    2. Not saying GW doesn't do anything good these days (although I'll admit I'm less of a fan of their new aesthetic style) but rather that this figure has an "adult themed" vibe GW obviously avoids these day! ;-)

    3. Oh aye, for sure. I picked up the Slaanesh warrior with face of a fiend a while ago. I never realised he was wearing ass-less armour.
